Position PurposeThis position is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of Solid Ground’s resource development and marketing/communications efforts.  Serves on the agency’s leadership team and as Acting Executive Director in the absence of the Executive Director.


Key Result Areas and Essential (E) and Secondary (S) Functions:


Plan, direct and implement comprehensive development and marketing programs that generate corporate, foundation and individual support and build greater community awareness of Solid Ground.


E    Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, businesses, foundations, service providers, and the community.  Develop and implement a cultivation program that includes personal visits, correspondence, grant proposals, direct mail, special events and related projects


E    Develop and implement a major donor plan that includes annual and endowment giving.


E    Implement the Benevon© fundraising model in accordance with the mission, goals and resources of Solid Ground:


  • Develop and coordinate at least monthly “Home At Last” tours to introduce members of the community to the work of Solid Ground.  Encourage and assist key supporters to host “in a box” tours at off-site locations.
  •  Plan, organize, direct and coordinate an annual “Every Family Needs a Home” breakfast (Ask Event) with targeted monetary goals.  This includes event design and logistics; table captain recruitment and management; speaker recruitment and coaching; video production; and sponsorship solicitations.
  • Plan, organize, direct and coordinate mission-related “Free Feel Good Events” at least annually as part of an overall strategy to cultivate and retain Giving Circle donors and other key supporters.
  • Along with Board/fundraising volunteers, cultivate, solicit and retain major gifts from individuals and businesses.


E    Plan, organize, direct and coordinate an annual “Bring It Home Dinner & Auction” (Fall Gala) in partnership with the Gala Committee.


  • Work with committee to determine program, select emcee(s) and coordinate auctioneer.
  • Oversee all revenue-generating activities, including ticket sales, sponsorships, live and silent auctions, and Fund A Need donations.
  • Coordinate event marketing and use of electronic bidding system (BidPal).
  • Manage post-event activities, auction item follow-up and donor acknowledgements.


E    Recruit and train volunteer members of the Gala Committee and other resource development work; provide leadership and administrative support to the Committee(s). 


E    Develop and coordinate direct mail and electronic solicitations of individuals, businesses, and civic organizations.


E    Design and implement a Marketing and Communications Plan to raise awareness of Solid Ground and to reinforce resource development strategies.


E    Develop marketing and communications plans to ensure that the vision, image, brand and work of Solid Ground is communicated effectively to current and prospective donors and the public.


E    Oversee development and maintenance of website design and content, with special attention to event promotion and e-commerce.


E    Develop and execute the Annual Report, agency brochure and other written marketing materials


E    Develop and manage electronic communications with Solid Ground supporters and the general public, including email marketing, Facebook, Twitter and other social media.


S    Advance agency’s community engagement efforts.


E    In conjunction with Executive Director, serve as agency’s primary contact for all media relations.  Prepare and execute Crisis Response communications as needed.


 


Organize and implement administrative systems to ensure an effective and efficient development effort.


E    Assist Executive Director and Board in developing and monitoring annual fundraising goals.


E    Oversee Raisers Edge database utilization and maintenance; generate and analyze reports to identify prospects and meet fundraising goals.


S    Coordinate activities of administrative employees engaged in maintaining records of contributors, generating pledge payment requests and donation acknowledgement letters.  


 


Provide supervision and support to the administrative staff at Solid Ground.


E    Recruit, train and supervise the Development & Data Coordinator and Office Assistant positions.


S    Assist in the supervision and support of Front Desk volunteers.


 


Serve as Acting Executive Director in the event of a planned or unplanned absence of the Executive Director, in accordance with Solid Ground’s current Succession Plans.


E    Participate in Leadership and Management Team meetings, Board of Directors meetings and strategic planning sessions.


 


E    Serve as liaison to the Board, East Metro Place Limited Partnership and other key partners in absence of Executive Director.
